.DISCUSSION...
(Today through Monday)
Issued at 240 AM CDT Tue Apr 8 2025
Excessive runoff from recent heavy rains will continue to funnel
through the hydrologic system today, resulting in prolonged
significant river flooding. Additional rises on creeks and rivers
are anticipated as this water works through tributaries. This will
be the case for the next several days, so don`t expect any
significant reductions in water levels.
Luckily, conditions through midweek will remain cool and dry as
northwest flow persists aloft. High temperatures today will
continue to be below normal, in the upper 50s and lower 60s.
Wednesday morning temperatures will drop into the low 30s for
areas east of the Mississippi River, creating concerns for frost
development. As such, a Frost Advisory will be in effect from 1AM
to 9AM for areas east of the river. A slight warming trend will
be evident through Thursday as southerly winds return. Daily
highs will be in the 60s and 70s.
A pattern change will occur on Thursday as a longwave trough
orients across Central CONUS, ejecting an attendant cold front to
the Mid-South. Rain chances will increase in the morning with a
few thunderstorms developing in the afternoon. The overall severe
weather parameter space remains lack luster, but a strong to
severe storm cannot be ruled out. As such, the Storm Prediction
Center has outlooked areas in northeast Mississippi and southwest
Tennessee in a Marginal Risk for severe storms on Thursday.
For the weekend, upper level ridging will allow for dry conditions
and near normal temperatures as afternoon highs reach the 60s and
70s.
